An Arts Ambassador is someone who spreads the word on behalf of an arts venue or organisation. Some ambassadors do it voluntarily, some are paid. Some do it online some do it off-line.
Also known as..
Street teams, Community Networkers, Brand Ambassadors, Connectors, Sneezers, Advocates…
What makes them special is that they are (ideally) fans: genuine enthusiasts about promoting what’s on offer. They are often recruited to help sell tickets but they can also do much more than that:
• Distribute flyers and other promotional materials
• Find out what people think of your organisation
• Give you feedback on your marketing and campaign plans
• Help you brainstorm and come up with new ideas
• Meet and greet first-time attenders, and ask them afterwards, “How was it for you?”
• Organise on-line campaigns
• Build up your mailing list
• Find new target audiences
• Help you tap into new networks
• Promote your sponsors
• Conduct tours and talks
• Help you find more ambassadors
• Train new ambassadors
• Find and engage micro-audience segments that you don’t have enough time to service
• Create new opportunities you had never even thought of
• Wear branded badges or t-shirts while out and about
• Research and develop new distribution outlets
